A beautiful book by Michael A Singer that unfolds the question who you really are... A book that stops you and makes you to go deep inside of yourself. When you enter the loop of your own thoughts, the insights of the book helps you to come out of it and be in align with your true self. The book gives a vast idea of the voice inside your head, the infinite energy available to you, how to free ourselves from the need of everything being in control, going beyond the walls we created for ourselves and lead a fulfilling life. The examples used by the author helps you to perceive deeply each and every aspects in the book. Start reading the book with an open heart.
There are five sections in the book. The first section of the book is about awakening consciousness. The author explains that you are not the voice of your mind. You are the one who is noticing the inner chatter in your head. The thoughts in your mind are just like the trees that pass by while you are driving. It's just another object, an inner object. If you could find time to go deep inside of yourselves, you can easily get to know the real self. Rest of the distractions or events in the life has to pass through you like the trees pass by. When you are ready to view the thoughts from outside, you could feel the energy inside you. Have you ever experienced when you come across an unpleasant situation in the present and one particular past event jolt you out of nowhere? These are blocked energies which you were not ready to let go. These blocked energies keeps away from your birthright - the infinite energy.
The second part of the book explains the infinite energy available to us. Everyone is having the infinite energy. You are not experiencing the energy because you are blocking it by closing your heart. When you are not ready to pass the life events through yourself it will stay inside and block the energy flow. All the past experiences you are holding to stored in you as impressions. There are positive and negative impressions. When you encounter an unpleasant situation you should able to realize the disturbances in your inner self and let go of it. Don't give it energy to pull your consciousness into it.
The third part of the book give the ways to let go of the emotions or experiences you are holding on to. Michael A Singer starts the section with 'fear' which forces you to build a predictable world around you so that the fear doesn't get stimulated. Instead of hiding the insecurities and weaknesses, recognize it and work to release it. Be aware that the consciousness goes to the place that distracts it the most. If you want to be free, you have to let go of the disturbing force instead of holding on to it. Always be cognizant of the teaching that you are not the insecure one, you are just the one who is noticing the feeling inside. The real growth takes place when you finally decide to deal with the pain. When you feel pain, recognize that its just energy passing through your heart. You should not be afraid of the pain. When you are comfortable with the pain passing through you, you will be free.
In the penultimate section the author details about why you are not in align with your inner energy. He explains how you block yourselves from the true self by the walls you have been creating with your thoughts and emotions. You have woven the thoughts and emotions you collected and created a conceptual world around you. You are building this world to protect your insecure self from being poked, without realizing that the actual light is outside of this world. When you are ready to go beyond or let go of the comfort zone like a first time skydiver ready to jump overcoming the fear, you could enjoy the infinite beauty.
The last section of the book helps you to lead a life of unconditional happiness that you uncovered outside the world you had created. You have to let go of any conditions you have created such as 'I will be happy if I get a million dollars, I will be happy if I am healthy' to get into absolute transcendence. The events happening in between one's birth and death are gifts of life. Even if the events are not as you wanted, without resisting it you must let the events to pass through your heart. The author is making it clear that you cannot be in the absolute transcendence all the time. It is like a pendulum and the absolute transcendence is at the equilibrium of the pendulum. The positive and negative events will pass through you. If you don't let the negative events to go through you, the pendulum will displace sideways. The same with the positive events. No one can stay in euphoria all the time. But you can experience the absolute transcendence when you go deep beyond your thoughts through meditation or a deep breath. You will stop at the equilibrium position of the pendulum and you get the awareness that you are part of the Universe like a ray of the Sun. You work with the Universe and the Universe will work with you. The life is happening for you.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read, who is looking for self development, who is looking for the growth in their work environment. In other words to everyone. I understood the deep wisdom of the book 'The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho' only after my second read. Some of you may need to read this book more than once to grasp the insight of this book. This is one of the book I am going to read more than once. I have a habit of underlining the inspiring quotes in the book so that I can get the idea of book without reading it wholly again. This is one of the books I have most number of underlines.. :) I better read the book again than reading the underlined part alone as both looks almost the same. I am quoting some of the underlined sentences.
